We are looking for Sponsors for the Horse and Hound Wine Festival, Virginia’s most unique wine festival. This festival is held on July 11th 2015 and has numerous events throughout the day with horses and dogs as the primary attractions such as the Parade of Horses, agility dogs and muskrat racing.  Families enjoy this festival because it appeals to both young, old and dogs.  The event takes place on the spacious and gracious grounds of Johnson’s Orchards 2122 Sheep Creek Rd, Bedford Va 24523 with spectacular Blue Ridge mountain views. Blossom to Bottle 5K Race
Run, Jog, Walk or Crawl over the hills and through the blossoms, down in the valley and across the streams in a benefit race for the Bedford Area Family YMCA programs.  The course is an off-road venue with spectacular mountain views at the foot of the Peaks of Otter in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  It will be a wonderful spring filled with the smell of blossoms, views of animals and companionship with good folks united in a good cause.  At the half way mark we will serve samples of the famous Peaks of Otter wine. Taste a little bit and continue towards the finish line while you traverse the valley on either a 5K competitive run or 3K walk over an off-road course.
In addition to the entry fees contributed to the Y; and by not receiving, but rather donating a shirt you will benefit a third world country thru the auspices of Goodwill.  They will accept any shirt regardless of condition.  Those items donated that are not destined and suitable for resale are packaged as salvage and shipped to be used for the making of braided rugs, wall hangings, mattress stuffing and other useful purposes.  A container will be provided for collection.

July 11 2015 The 11th annual “Horse and Hound” Wine Festival
Enjoy wine from some of Virginia’s finest wineries while listening to good music and visiting art, craft and food vendors. Virginia’s most unique wine festival has numerous events throughout the day with horses and dogs as the primary attractions such as the Parade of  Horses, lure course and muskrat racing.  Families will enjoy this festival because it appeals to both young and old and we have a Kiddie Korral.  The event takes place on the spacious and gracious grounds of Johnson’s Orchards & Peaks of Otter Winery 2122 Sheep Creek Rd, Bedford Va 24523 with spectacular Blue Ridge mountain views. 11am-6pm 

Patriotic Opening
At noon we will have our Patriotic Opening with the presentation of flags on horseback, pledges and anthems.
This is a very impressive event.

Lure Coursing
There will be a demonstration of Lure Coursing given by Laura Cormier. Lure coursing is a humane sport which recreates the chase of the hare by the pursuing hound. The "bunny" consists of strips of white plastic attached to a continuous loop line that runs through a
series of pulleys to simulate the zigzag path of a rabbit on the run

Muskrat Races
This event uses the Jack Russell Terrier's highly developed prey drive to swim through water in pursuit of an artificial lure.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes are invited to swim across the pond in pursuit of an artificial lure. There will be three divisions of competition: small, medium, and large dogs. The winner in each division will receive a trophy

Parade of Horses
Provided and directed by Reba Farm Inn and Saddle Soar Equitainment
The Horse parade will continue to be a crowd pleaser with a wide variety of horses to be exhibited. In addition there will be new and exciting events such as: featured wild horses from the herd on the outer banks, N.C. and a Chincoteaque pony from Virginia’s Assateaque Island.

Kiddie Korral
 Supervised activities for children simulating rodeo games and quiet games as well throughout the day. Supervision by the staff and volunteers of  Brook Hill Farm Rehabilitation and Rescue

You will enjoy food samples and informative demonstrations.  You are invited to bring a picnic lunch and a camera, but please leave your pets at home.  Lunch and locally produced foods will be available for purchase.  Farm Tour 2015 is sponsored by Bedford County, Bedford Wine Trail, Bedford Agriculture Council, Poplar Forest, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Bedford Tourism, and Area Businesses.
