Peaks of Otter Winery  and Orchards calendar of events for 2012

 

Open noon to 5  weekends January  – March;

Open noon to 5 daily  April through December;  Other times by chance, special events or appointment.

 

We are looking for Sponsors for the Horse and Hound Wine Festival, Virginia’s most unique wine festival. This festival is held on July 14th 2012 and has numerous events throughout the day with horses and dogs as the primary attractions such as the Parade of Horses, agility dogs and muskrat racing.  Families enjoy this festival because it appeals to both young, old and dogs.  The event takes place on the spacious and gracious grounds of Johnson’s Orchards 2122 Sheep Creek Rd, Bedford Va 24523 with spectacular Blue Ridge mountain views. Blossom to Bottle 5K Race

Run, Jog, Walk, or Crawl over the Hills and through the blossoms, down in the valley and across the streams in a benefit race for the Cancer Program, “A Path to Healing and A Bridge to Wellness” held at the Bedford YMCA.

Traverse the valley on an off-road course filled with blossoms and spectacular mountain views at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There will be some bridges and streams to cross and lots of farm animals to see in their pastures with their new born babies.

But mostly it will be a wonderful spring filled breath of fresh air. The competitors will not only feel and see the wonderful renewal of spring, but will know that their entrance fee will help cancer victims  feel that renewal of spring in their life.

The event takes place on the spacious and gracious grounds of Johnson’s Orchards & Peaks of Otter Winery 2122 Sheep Creek Rd, Bedford Va 24523. Site registration 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Race starts at 9:00 am. Sharp! Advanced registration www.BlossomToBottle.com $15/single & $20/single on race day.

Plan on coming to the 2012 Bedford County Family Farm Tour, a FREE family-oriented event.  In celebration of agriculture past and present, this year’s tour will highlight agriculture practices.

You will enjoy food samples and informative demonstrations.  You are invited to bring a picnic lunch and a camera, but please leave your pets at home.  Lunch and locally produced foods will be available for purchase.  Farm Tour 2012 is sponsored by Bedford County, Bedford Wine Trail, Bedford Agriculture Council, Poplar Forest, Virginia Cooperative Extension, Bedford Tourism, and Area Businesses.
