Johnson's Orchards

Family Owned and Operated since 1919

Educational and Interactive Fall Field Trips move groups through learning stations run by Danny Appleseed and farm staff.
Step into a world of good old-fashioned farm fun! Our orchard field trips are a hands-on adventure where students of all ages learn about apples from blossom to basket. Join Danny Appleseed as he shares the secrets of old-timey farming, the life of an apple tree, and the magic of working with the land.
Students will explore the orchard, be introduced to various horticultural practices and problems, and discover the sights, smells, and sounds of a working farm.
Perfect for school groups, homeschoolers, and curious minds of all ages ready to learn and play.
Enjoy visiting our farm animals and picnic for lunch at our pavilion after your tour.
Adult groups are also welcomed.
2025 Seasonal Note: Due to a late April freeze, our crop did not have a chance to reach its usual abundance. While children are normally invited to pick apples on our field trips, this will unfortunately not be possible this year. They will alternatively learn and see what happened environmentally and how farmers in Virginia are looking forward.
Field Trips start at 10am and last about 1.5hours.
Cost: $8/person. 1 adult free per 15 students.
